IMPALA is a software package for comparing a single query sequence with a database of PSI-BLAST generated PSSMs (Schäffer, A. A., Wolf, Y. I., Ponting, C. P., Koonin, E. V., Aravind, L., and Altschul, S. F. (1999) "IMPALA: matching a protein sequence against a collection of PSI-BLAST-constructed position-specific score matrices". Bioinformatics. 15:1000-1011). We have created a representative set of PSSMs for the CATH classification of protein structural domains. You may use the form below to submit your own query sequence for comparison with this set of PSSMs. Probable structural and functional assignments may be inferred for regions of your query sequence that match any of our PSSMs. In addition to returning raw IMPALA output, this server will also attempt to automatically make a suggestion about the probable structure content of your sequence using David Lee's "domain_finder" method. If your query sequence has been deposited in GenBank then you may wish to try using Gene3D instead.
